Week Two Little Red Hen

This week has been buzzing with activities and it has been hard keeping up with it all.

Our kiddos have been acting out the Little Red Hen and to watch them add their own little twist to the story has been heart warming.

As they act out the story the comprehension just keeps growing.

What weighs more than an Apple?

Children investigated and discovered what weighed more than an apple.

We set up a process art activity in the art center where the children could retell their version of the Little Red Hen.

Children enjoyed building the first letter of their name using Play to Learn Preschools Alphabet Cube Letters.

We worked on making Little Red Hen patterns with character cards

and we talked about More and Less using the same character cards.

We worked on syllables with Hickety Tickety Bumble Bee using their names. We continued our syllable practice with a small group game.

Week One Little Red Hen

This week we begin our study on what it means to be a friend and I love using the Little Red Hen to help me teach children how important it is to help one another.

We read two different versions of the Little Red Hen and then we compared the differences between the two.

The children enjoy review all of their colors with the review color around the room.

We have been humming with assessments this week and these small group activities helped us with those assessment needs.

The children counted and sorted apples.

We practiced rhymes with baking up rhymes game.

We began introduce beginning sounds with all of the Little Red Hens friends.

Week 2 All About Me

We are all alike and unique in our own ways. What better way to show children all of the ways that we are alike and different than with the All About Me unit of study.

Learning Centers are a great way for children to explore their interest based on the unit of study. It also gives them ample time to visit and revisit to build on their mastery.

The children have been having fun learning their name with the All About Me Name Art.

The art center has been buzzing with children making self-portrait.

The children have been excited about making their own patterns in the Math Center.

And

They have discovered that they can sort all of kids into groups.

This week we have been working really hard on our observations so that we can complete our DRDP's and small group time is a great way to observe children.

Children had a conversations about how they feel as they worked together with the Flip and Draw Emotions game.

We laughed and counted how tall our friends are with different objects from around the classroom.

The exciting thing about this project is that the children discovered that by using different items sometimes it took more or less.
