In Preschool we work really hard on letter recognition and begging sounds, knowing the letters of the alphabet at preschool age is related to both short and long term reading proficiency. That is why we need to be giving children apple opportunities to experiment and practice using the alphabet.
Create a Letter and Word Center
By providing alphabet materials it increases children's opportunities to engage in alphabet learning. Include ABC Books, Magnetic Letters, Word Puzzles and ABC letter matching puzzles.
Small Group Activites
Demonstrate to children how to draw a turkey using simple shapes and lines.
Roll and Count
Have child roll a dice and identify the number on the dice, next have the child count out the number of feathers to match the number on the dice. Once child has the right amount of feathers have child place the feathers around the body of the turkey. When turkey has all its feathers child is done. With this number game all children are winners.
Throw Back Post
Get your little ones thinking about what they are thankful for. Here is a fun art activity that the children can do after you have had a group discussion on thankfulness.
During small group have a discussion on what makes each of us thankful. Have the children draw a picture of what they are thankful for and write down what each child said.
