Top Turkey Activities

Guided Drawing

Demonstrate to children how to draw a turkey using simple shapes and lines. 

Roll and Count

Have child roll a dice and identify the number on the dice, next have the child count out the number of feathers to match the number on the dice. Once child has the right amount of feathers have child place the feathers around the body of the turkey. When turkey has all its feathers child is done. With this number game all children are winners.

Tame Transitions

When it is time to transition children away from group time and into a different activity it is always good to have a transition game. This allows children to move more slowly to the next activity with less confusion. 
As the children come up to play the game they roll a large cardboard box dice with color dots to match all of the feathers. A child comes up and rolls the dice identifies the color and then finds that color feather from the turkey. Once child finds the feather the teacher reads the movement that child needs to do before moving on to the next activity. 

Hand Print Turkey Art

Making art with children’s hand prints is important to the parents; it gives them a keepsake of their child’s growth and give them a memory of when their child was small. 


Turkey Trail

Have children match capital letter tiles to each letter on the letter trail.  Once they have finished matching all the letter tiles to the letters have them practice writing their letter with the letter with a writing practice sheets.


Feather Painting

Set out a supply of paint and feathers.  Give each child a sheet of paper and have them paint a picture with the different colors of paint and feathers.


Paper Plate Art

Have children paint a large paper plate after paper plate is dry have them take it to the create art station and make a turkey out of it.

Because of the art works you presented above, I missed those days when I was still a fourth grader student. Our art teacher would let us do some art with one format. But she would only choose the best five and post these five great artworks in our classroom. Of course, everyone would be eager to get one spot out of the five and we will take it seriously. I missed the good old days! On the other hand, the kids were very creative with their projects. It's colorful and very catchy!
