Where the magic begins

5 Reason to Embrace Digital Lesson Planning

Have you ever stared at a stack of planner from years past and thought what a waste of time and energy?

I have come to realize that lugging around a planner day after day and squeezing everything into a small square that I can't even read isn’t for me.  Let’s not forget about all of the messy crossed out plans that had to be moved around because of that unexpected fire drill.

And…

The Feeling of writing and rewriting the same thing over and over again year after year because your following the same curriculum.

That’s when I said enough is enough!

There has to be a better way.

That’s when I decided to embrace the digital world of lesson planning.

But…

I didn’t want to miss out on the cuteness of a traditional planner.  So, I designed planner templates that I could use with OneNote.

5 Reason to embrace Digital Lesson Planning

  1. Say goodbye to the lugging around a heavy bookbag.   I can now access my lesson plans from all of my device as long as I have Wi-Fi.
  2. Nothing gets missed because I can easily share my weekly plans with my teaching team and administration.
  3. I’m able to copy and paste activities that where skipped.
  4. Let’s not forget that I can link any and all resources so everything I need for the day is just a click away.
  5. Easy to update lessons to meet the needs for the following year.  Hours SAVED on planning.

All About Me Week 1

Picture
I always forget what a roller coast ride it is the first few weeks of school and this year was no exception.  It was packed with ups, downs and all around, but it was also a very successful and fruitful week with my new group of little ones.

Here is a peak at what we did.

Group Time

At our morning meeting we had fun singing our ABC with this new movement song.

Work Time (Learning Centers)

Picture
This table of friends worked together to make a pan of cheesy cheese noodles.  While practicing their fine motor skills.
Picture
Children learning how to use scissors with this color sorting name collage.
Picture
How tall are we?  Children worked together to see how tall they were.  "She is 8 blocks tall." "If you cut the block in half then it would be the same as the bean bags."  Love their thought process.
Picture
We introduced dice with this roll and color activity.

Small Group Activities

Picture
After children measured their friends at work time they were able to practice their new skill with some How tall are we? measuring mats.
Picture
We practiced making facial features with draw and wipe mats.
Picture
Children played with lakeshore kids sorting and counting.  Looking to see which group had more and less.

As they were working with them some patterns even emerged.
