Who is here? During our who is here activity children get to experience in a hands on way counting and number recognition. It is something that needs to get done so why not enlist the help of our students. It shows the children how to collect data of who is here and who is absent. They begin to understand that we use this information for how many breakfast and lunches we need for the day. We use this as a daily transition activity from group morning meeting to wash hands for breakfast. We begin by having all of the children's names on the magnetic board. Children them come up and find their name. Children count and identify the number as they place their name card in the pocket. During our morning Math Circle we use this information to answer some fun classroom facts, it is a way for us to talk math talk in a fun and meaningful way.
