Stone Soup

Stone Soup has always been one of my favorites to read to children. 

​I love how this book shows children how to come together to enjoy something that they all created together.

Start the unit off by having children come together by making their own batch of stone soup.

Enhancing the Learning Centers

Add the leftover vegetables from making the soup so that the children can explore and observe the vegetables. 

Add cans to the block center to provide a different building material. 

Add noodles, plastic letters, bowls and ladles to the sensory table.  Encourage the children to make name soup.

Add flour, corn meal, sifters, measure cups and spoons to the sensory table.  Children will be able to observe what will happen as they sift the mixture.
