This year I am taking a little bit of a different approach to how children have to complete activities. Since we all know that each child learns in their own unique way instead of having all children draw or paint a self portrait of themselves I am giving children different opportunities to complete a self portrait of themselves for our All About Me unit. Children had the opportunity to... Draw a self portrait by looking at themselves in the mirror and drawing what they see. Painting a self portrait again by looking in a mirror and then painting what they see. Collage a self portrait by going on a nature walk and finding items that they would like to use to create an image of themselves. Collage a self portrait by using found items in the classroom that would best represent the way they saw themselves. Children had to at least find one way to complete a self portrait of themselves. If they wanted to do more than one throughout the week then they could complete as many as they wanted.
