Picking Apples 1 2 3Morning Work TimeThis year I add to my plans a morning work time. I have to say that it has been a great addition to our morning routine. More on that later. We have been introducing our younger friends to letters with these fun race track letter mats. Children get to use a small toy car to drive on the letter and then sorts car letters under each letter. Our older friends have been mastering their number skills with apple sorting number mats. These mats have several different activities that can be done.
Group TimeWork Time (Learning Centers)During work time children strung beads, drift wood, buttons, red bottle tops and silk leaves. We used their stringing's to create a child created apple tree. This potted tree is out all year long and changes with the seasons. Children used their fine motor skills to make lower case a apples. Children had a good time exploring weights with the activity, What Weighs More than an apple. We took the opportunity to do some of our assessments for the DRDP with this activity.

Love that you put little photos of what you are doing on your lesson plans. I just started doing that last year and it really helps me decipher my plans when I review them, especially the next year when I might not remember which "apple painting craft" I wrote into the planning sheet so I cannot decide whether I want to use it again the next year. Now, with photos, I have much better memory.

The picture help my memory as well. I also like putting the pictures on my lesson plans because then when I do have a sub they know exactly what I am talking about.
