Highlights of what our week looked like.

Our Dreams

Picture
We started our week off with a book reading of I Have a Dream and a group discussion of what our dreams would be today.

During work time children created their I have a Dream sign for the march.  The children did a fabulous job coming up with their dreams for our world.

Tami -
I have a few questions - what program do you use for your lesson plans? Also, the writing program that you have for the kids looks interesting, could you tell me what that program is called.

We use Little Treasures Language & Literacy and Math Connects for our curriculum. I inhance the curriculum with the Preschool Learning Foundation and materials that I create myself.

The district is big on directional writing, we found out that using lap boards was the easiest way to to demonstrate writing. We give them verbal and visual direction. We also use you tube preschool writing video. That is what you can see in the background of one of the pictures. It gives verbal and directional arrows for the children to follow along with.

I hope this was helpful, Tami

Tami - Our students are struggling with letter formations, so I was interested in what program your students were using. What is the name of the you tube video? The new program we are using just doesn't seem to be connecting with the students.

Thank you for sharing -

I do not use a particular program for my writing lessons. We do weekly shared writing activities during group time where we have a group discussion and I write down what the children say and talk about sentence structure, spacing, punctuation and letter formation. We also do a group directional writing activity weekly. you can read more about it here. http://www.learningandteachingwithpreschool.com/blog/group-writing-activity
Also I use this video during our group writing.

I also do small group letter formation activities with chalk boards and play dough letter mats. These kinds of activities are in my plans weekly. The more they are exposed to it the better they get at it.
