We took the time this week to learn about Martin Luther King Jr. and how he had a DREAM for all of us.

Day One

To begin we watched the sort video on Martin Luther King Jr for kids.

After watching we had a group discussion about how we are all alike and different.

Some questions arose after watching the sort clip like what was segregation.  So, with that we asked the children how we could sort the class into two groups.

They came up with ideas on how we could do that.
  • Hair color
  • Eye color
  • Ages
  • What we were wearing
And the list went on and on.

The group decided on hair colors dark hair and light hair.
After the children were sorted into the two groups they stood across from one another.

Telling them that we just segregated them into two different groups.

Then we asked them how they would feel if they could not play together.

“That’s not nice Ms. Tami.
My friend is over there.”  One little girl told us.

This turned into a great discussion about how it would make us feel if we had to be segregated.
