I love watching children work in the construction center. It always amazes me at the problem solving that happens in there. Here is a group of children that wanted to build a ramp for the trains to go down. They stared off by using the train tracks, but soon discovered that at each joint if not supported would collapse. Next they thought about adding the plastic piping, but could not figure out how they could attach the two together. After a couple of attempts, they decided to remove the train tracks and use just the blue plastic half tubes. Which worked but it kept sliding off, so the go to, to fix everything in my classroom is? Tape It worked like magic. Now the children are building ramps off of all the furniture in the construction zone.

where did you get the blue half-pipes? I've been looking for some to add to our block and water play areas, but can't find any I love.

The blue half pipes come from a different set of toy that we have from lakeshore, but you could use rain gutters cut in small sections or you could cut PVC pipe in half. If you don't want to white color spray paint it in different colors.
