Blast Off Bottle Rockets

Children can make their own bottle Space Shuttle  to celebrate  the New Spaceship Blast Off.

Ingredients to experiment with 

• vinegar 
• cola
• 7-Up
• baking soda
• pop rocks
• wintergreen lifesavers
• mintos 

• alka seltzer
  
• liquid watercolors 
• 
  

We collected

• empty water bottles
• corks
• large craft sticks
• pencils
• masking tape
• scissors
• spoons
• paper towels 
• eye goggles 

With a few supplies on a rolling cart, we are off to make some bottle rockets.

The children decided if they wanted to use pencils or colored craft sticks to form the base of the bottle rocket. 

We used the tape to attach the sticks to the top of the bottle.

Next the children added the liquid of choice to the bottle about 1/4 to 1/3 of the bottle.

Next they added color of choice.

Children then chose between

• baking soda
• pop rocks
• wintergreen lifesavers
• mintos 

• alka seltzer

We placed the ingredient in a paper towel and rolled it like a burrito and slid it in the bottle and corked it.

Shake a little and step back.
