I have been asked why I started a teacher wellness page on my website. The answer is not short, but let me tell you my story.
This past year has been a challenging year for myself and my family. It all started when my husband was complaining about me bring home a bug from school. Can you believe that a teacher be accused of bring home a sicky bug, (Flu Season 2016) I was not sick, but he was showing signs of a good old ordinary cold. He did what anyone that was sick would do rested, drank lots of water and had bowls of chicken noodle soup, but this cold was not going away it started going down into his chest with a nagging cough. He brock down and went to the doctor to get some support. The doctor placed him on antibiotics for bronchitis. He began to feel better after weeks of fighting the cold. Fast forward a few more weeks and he was starting to get a relapse, not wanting to go back to the doctor he tried to nurse himself back to health with no luck. So, he went back to the doctor and yes all they did was prescribe another round of antibiotics that were stronger and for a longer duration. He kept going through this from November to February of 2017, the doctor just kept prescribing him antibiotics.
We were now almost into March and he wasn’t getting any better, but now he was complaining of having a really bad stomach pain and lower abdominal pain and yes, the cough was still there. Back to the doctor he went, and they finally tested him for pneumonia and sent him on his way saying it was the flu since he was running a fever.
3 Days Later…
We ended up in the emergency room because his stomach looked like he had swallowed a workout ball and he was in major pain.
We left the hospital 28 days later after major surgery to save his life from an antibiotic resent infection that took over his body. As I drove home with him I was scared to death of how was I going to care for him on my own. Open wounds, tubes and iv feeding. The road to recovery was long, I was just thankful that I had the time saved up to be off work to help him through his healing process.
As I was nursing him back to health we had time to reflect on the whole ordeal and think about what we could have done differently to prevent this from happening, we knew that some of our poor lifestyle habits could have put him at a higher risk for illness.
It was time for a change and we needed to it NOW.
Why the Wellness Lifestyle?
It means feeling good and enjoying our life together.
Our wellness lifestyle is focusing on education, self-awareness and prevention. Instead of merely treating the problem. The key to wellness is simply learning what serves the body, then restoring the body with what it needs.
As we began to research a wellness plan for us doTERRA essential oils kept coming up in the search, was this a sign? I had been introduced to them before for my allergies from a co-worker (and they worked), but had never really put a second thought to them until now.
They are now part of our daily protocol to a wellness lifestyle and it feels amazing.

I am in full swing at school. If you are anything like me you dread the first few weeks of school, not because of my job I love teaching, but because I used to be scared of catching every little germ bug that my littles brought in with them.
Back to school always meant getting sick.
Not this YEAR!
This year I’m being proactive about my health and overall well-being.
Here is what I will be doing during the back to school and flu season to help me stay healthy and in the classroom for all of my littles.
I always have On Guard Beadlet in my teacher book bag. If I feel a sniff or a scratch in my throat I take one every two hours.
Feel that cold coming on, take an immune booster bath. Add 4 drops of On Guard and ½ cups Epsom Salt to the bath water, grab your favorite book and soak that cold away.
For those moments that you can't wash your hands, I carry a small bottle of Clean Hands spray in my purse.
½ oz. spray bottle
15 drops of On Guard
15 drops of Lemon
5 drops of Melissa (you don’t have to have this, but it adds extra protection from viral infections)
5 drops of coconut carrier oil
Fill the rest of bottle with water
When you need it just shake, spray and rub.
